Closet Diary #1

Just snagged this vintage 1940s peplum from Ebay. Still thinking of what to pair it with. I think I will go the pants route. I have narrowed it down to either a cropped cigarette pant OR a wide legged pant a la Dior Pre-fall 2013.

400 Blows (Truffaut) +Thom Browne Pre-fall 2013

Continuing the last post's boyish theme, I bring you Thom Browne's Pre-fall 2013 collection. The above looks conjure a bit of school-boy charm with the ties and jackets, making them a perfect pairing with Truffaut's 400 Blows.

Menswear:Catherine Deneuve + Meadham Kirchoff 2013

Girls who like boys who look like boys that look like girls. There is a bit of androgyny in the air recently in the fashion world.

Fashion is catching up to the modern woman. Today's woman has a full and busy life that doesn't easily allow heels and multiple changes a day. We don't always have time to slip into a cocktail dress when the clock strikes 5PM. Pieces that fit this modern gal on the go mix ease and comfort without sacrificing style. For pre-fall, many designers, including Chanel, showed flat shoes instead of sky-high stilettos. Menswear inspired pieces with a feminine touch could be seen at such pre-fall shows as Celine (see a double breasted Jacket with pearl buttons) and Givenchy.

I usually don't pay much attention to men's fashion week because I have enough to keep up with womenswear, but currently, it seems like the two worlds are beginning to blur. Take Meadham Kirchoff for example. Meadham's models wore Catherine Deneuve inspired hair in his recent showing of his 2013 menswear collection.

Check, Please!

Graphic prints are everywhere right now so how lucky do you think I felt when I pulled a forgotten vintage graphic blouse out of my closet the other day? Love discovering things in my closet. It makes the old new again.
